Trunk Club Try-On May 2019

Happy Monday! So excited to share another round of try-ons. Today, I’m sharing my Nordstrom Trunk Club. My stylist sent me a bunch of new on-trend favorite pieces to check out. Some were total hits and some were major misses (for me), but it’s always fun to try on new things. Whatever you love, you keep and whatever you don’t, you just send back! You have a chance to review the trunk before it ships and you can also let your stylist know about specific items you may desire. There is a $25 styling fee, but you can use it as credit if you purchase anything from the trunk. So here we go!

The first outfit was a win for me. I own the mom jeans (Target), and decided to style them with this breezy button up, cotton jacket and leather espadrille slip-ons from the Trunk. Loving this casual look! Comfortable and also nursing friendly.

Madewell Surplus Cotton Jacket

Halogen White Leather Espadrille Mule

Treasure & Bond Breezy Striped Boyfriend Shirt

I’ve been seeing these button down dresses everywhere, and I LOVED this chambray version from Madewell. Very comfy and loved the pockets as well! The back straps criss-cross in the back as well which was a nice added touch. And of course, also nursing friendly.

Madewell Button Front Chambray Tank Dress

This was called a utility jacket, but it felt more like a shirt. It was super lightweight, but definitely really comfortable and soft! The striped tee underneath was comfy and great as a basic tee!

Treasure & Bond Utility Jacket

Madewell Striped Pocket Tee

I also loved this button down thread dress from Madewell. This is an XS, the material was super comfy, and it fit well! These nude suede slip on sandals by Halogen were also great. The heel is a good height where it doesn’t hurt your foot and bonus: it’s currently marked down!

Madewell Texture & Thread Front Button Dress

Halogen Slide Sandal

I got majorly excited when I saw this white denim jacket in the trunk! I don’t own anything like it, and it seems like a great spring and summer staple! Bonus: it’s really soft and comfortable as well. I think I’m keeping this one.

Kut from the Kloth White Denim Jacket

The dress hugged me in the wrong places and was a little too loose up top, but I like the print, and would make a sexy date night dress! Just not a great fit for me.

Leith Wrap Mini Dress

I loved this button down dress when I pulled it out of the box, but it ultimately didn’t work for me. The buttons in the chest area pulled too much and you could see right through the holes to my bra which wasn’t flattering. Super bummed, because I loved the color, pockets, and fit of the rest of the dress. Shame the buttons were weird!

Hinge Button Front Midi Dress

This dress was really cute online, and I wanted to love it, but the material wrinkles really easily, and it was not flattering on my body at all. I LOVE the color, but between the wrinkles, the fact that it hugged me in all the wrong places and since it’s not nursing friendly, it’s just not gonna work for me.

Something Navy Flirty Mini Dress

Definitely keeping this black bralette from Free People. Perfect to wear under those summer tanks or shirts where your bra peeks out, because it has such pretty detail you don’t mind showing it! Perfect summer staple.

Free People Bralette

This simple rose bangle was also included in the Trunk inscribed with “Stop and smell the roses.” Classic and chic. Goes with anything. Keeping this for sure.

Kate Spade Rose Bangle

I liked the idea and style of this top, but for the price, I didn’t think it was worth it. It was a little short and a little sheer. It was okay, but I didn’t love it.

Madewell Woodland Floral Smocked Waist Top

This top was a little large and didn’t really do me any favors. Loved the print, but not the fit. Just kinda made me look wider than normal.

Madewell Striped Peasant Top

Thinking my stylist doesn’t really understand the “mom bod” going on right now. Haha. The color of this top was pretty, but way too low cut for me. I spend a lot of days at the playground with my kids and unless I’m nursing my baby, I don’t really want my boobs hanging out, ya know? So this was a no-go, but I felt like striking a pose anyway. ūüėČ

FYI – jeans and shoes are mine and I linked them here:

Hope you guys had a great weekend! We celebrated my nephew’s 1st Birthday, Knox was Baptized into the Catholic Church, and my boys made my mom and I breakfast in bed down in Maryland! The boys were seriously so super sweet to me all day, and we had a wonderful weekend celebrating lots of great things! I was also able to keep up my workouts while away and got in a sweat sesh with my mama!

Back in Brooklyn today and it’s a gloomy, rainy one here, but going to make the most of it! New clothes always help. ūüėČ

Make it a great week everyone!

Bright & Sunny {With Stella & Dot Part 2}

IMG_8576_Layers_v1

This past weekend, our little family of three (almost four) decided to escape the city for a little fresh air in Upstate NY. We explored the town of Beacon and settled down at a nice little spot on the Hudson that we found on Airbnb in the town of Rosendale. It was a lot of fun to tour around some unfamiliar places, try new restaurants, window shop, and hike new trails. The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail was a perfect hike for a prego mama and a newly hiking toddler. Nice and flat! We had a gorgeous view of the trestle bridge right across from our place, and the town of Rosendale was only steps away. It was a lovely get-a-way and it was so nice to spend some time in the great outdoors.

Mother’s Day Style With Stella & Dot

IMG_8412_Layers_v1

While I love all of my jobs…fitness coach, freelance writer, blogger, and kid’s soccer coach…being a mom is my most favorite job of all. I never knew the intense love I could feel for another human being until my little Nico came into my life. As hard as it can be sometimes as a mom, and as crazy and scatterbrained as I feel sometimes, I feel so incredibly blessed each time I look at my child. Each time he utters “mama” or “I love you,” or climbs into my bed and gives me a big sloppy kiss, I am reminded how much this little person needs me. How in these moments,¬†I can do no wrong in his eyes. The excitement and wonder and huge smiles and laughter that he emits on a daily basis make my eyes well up with happiness and pride. He truly enjoys discovering the world, learning new things, paying attention to things I teach him, being independent, and best of all,¬†snuggling back up with mama and papa at the end of the day.

This Mother’s Day I am doubly reminded of how lucky I am now that I have a second child on the way. Nico will have a brother by the end of the summer, and my love will only continue to grow and my heart will become even more full (hard to imagine that even being possible!) It will undoubtedly be hard.¬†I will wonder what in the heck I have gotten myself into, how I will survive the next day, when I will be able to take a shower next, if I will ever get sleep again…but I know I will have those moments where I will look at my newborn son in my arms or I will see my two children interacting with each other sweetly, and I will just smile and melt…and that hard will be all the more worth it.

Florida Style in Maine

IMG_9852_Layers_v1

For some reason, this dress reminds me of something I would find in a Florida boutique. ¬†Maybe it’s the soft colors, the silky feel, or the floral print. ¬†I found it on sale at Francesca’s (non-maternity score again!), and had to have it for my summer trip to Maine. ¬†I wore this on our last night out to dinner in Elsworth (at 30 weeks pregnant), added the belt, and some gold accessories to complete the look. ¬†I am still reminiscing about the amazing view we had from our lake house.

It’s overcast and cooler today in NYC, and I have to say I’m actually grateful! ¬†It’s been brutally hot for my prego body, and today’s cooler temperatures made my walk to the subway this morning a bit easier. ¬†Today I hit the 33 week mark! ¬†One month away from being full term. ¬†Holy crap. ¬†We were able to get rid of our guest bed last night, so we have some space to work with in trying to get the nursery together. ¬†I also managed to schedule our pediatrician consults, so hoping to make a decision on that in the near future.

I’ve got a busy day at the office today with a few meetings and lots of resume reviewing.

Happy Tuesday!

And it’s back to my uniform this summer…the maxi dress! ¬†I scored this one at a discount price from a local spot near my office. ¬†Again, it’s not maternity, which makes me happy because I know I will be able to wear it post-pregnancy. ¬†I love the rainbow of colors on this dress, and it was perfect for a beautiful sunny Saturday family reunion with my Dad’s side of the fam.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Girl’s night went off with a hitch last night. ¬†Mucho thanks to my girl Ailie for graciously painting my toes (I can no longer reach them). ¬†I am not a big fan of feet, and not sure I would have jumped at this opportunity had the roles been reversed, so this task was very much appreciated! ¬†We had a great night of nail painting, mud-masking, movie watching, and festival chicken.

This morning I rose early to meet my cousin Seamus for breakfast in the city.  He is in town from Cali to surprise his sister today as she is giving birth to another little baby tomorrow.  So sweet!  The last time I saw him was on his wedding day to my cousin Alex, so it was great to catch up!  So glad we were able to make a little get-together happen this morning.

Hope you are all enjoying the week so far!

Gina

{12} Lately…

lately

Lately I’ve been…

reading¬† Finished reading Fly Away¬†by Kristin Hannah. ¬†If you’ve read the prequel Firefly Lane, you will definitely enjoy this book. ¬†I always enjoy a good Kristin Hannah book. ¬†I am now reading Khaled Hosseini’s newest novel, And the Mountains Echoed. ¬†I was a huge fan of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, so naturally I had to read this book. ¬†So far there are a LOT of character introductions, and I’m hoping that somehow they will all end up stringing together and making sense eventually. ¬†So far it’s interesting…I think I’m just waiting for the connection and the point of the whole story. ¬†I’m confident that it will come, but will let you know how I end up liking it.

writing  E-mails catching up with friends.

listening¬† Really liking Lana del Ray’s Summertime Sadness. ¬†The original is beautiful, but I love the Cedric Gervais remix of course. ¬†I don’t really have summertime sadness myself…quite the opposite actually, but for some reason, I just dig this song.

thinking ¬†That they must have been working on the apartment above my office for about the past 5 years. ¬†Seriously…will they ever be done???

smelling¬† And also tasting, this delicious Aloha Banana smoothie I’m consuming. ¬†Fruit-a-holic.

watching¬† Saw an episode of the Kardashians (yes, I’m guilty) last night where Kim is in severe pain during her pregnancy. ¬†I think this all goes to show pregnancy never happens the way you plan, and you have to be prepared for all kinds of challenges. ¬†I have had my fair share, but very thankful to be feeling good right now!

wishing¬† That I could see into my belly to see what my little man looks like. ¬†Weird? ¬†Maybe, but I think it’s weirder to feel and see kicks and movements inside me all day without actually being able to see who’s in there doing it!

hoping  For my Uncle to come home from the hospital soon.  His surgery went very well, and we are so grateful.  Hoping that he will have a good recovery.  He is a tough cookie!

wearing ¬†Floral pants from Motherhood¬†(super sale right now!), Mint Poly button down from Express, Sparkly Flats from Nordstrom Rack, Sunnies from Francesca’s, Michael Kors watch, and my Henri Bendel Bracelet.

loving ¬†The fact that we are having a family reunion this Saturday with my Dad’s side for the first time in probably at least 15 years. ¬†So excited to see all of my cousins and extended family. ¬†It’s been way too long!

laughing ¬†At the fact that I got pooped on by a bird yesterday…yes I can only laugh because it did not get on my head or my clothing, and it was easy to clean off. ¬†Thank goodness, because I had a meeting 15 minutes later…

wanting  Coffee.  Been getting a bit more sleepy again as I am now in the third trimester of my pregnancy.  And the smell of it, just makes me want it more!  Been trying to stay away from coffee though most of the time (except for my weekend treats).  Hence, the vitamin packed smoothies to wake me up!

needing  A back massage.  Thinking of making an appointment to get a prenatal massage soon to ease the aches and pains of the third tri.

feeling ¬†Hormonal. ¬†One minute, I’m super happy. ¬†The next minute, I’m crying. ¬†And I am not usually a crier. ¬†I feel like my mood can change with the flick of a light switch lately.

craving ¬†Ice cream. ¬†But that’s really nothing new…I heart ice cream. ¬†Especially in the summertime.

clicking  Catching up on all my favorite blogs and discovering some new ones as well.

What have you been up to lately?

Happy Hump Day!

Retro Rainbow

IMG_9075_Layers_v1

ModCloth had a sale recently, and I couldn’t help but snag a few retro-style items from their online store. ¬†This rainbow frock totally brightens my day, and I’m in love with these new cat-eye sunnies. ¬†I’m also excited that I was able to score another non-maternity dress to rock while prego. ¬†That way, I can also wear it post-bump! ¬†Little Man is getting bigger and bigger. ¬†And Mom is too. ¬†These photos were taken at 26 weeks, and today I hit week 27. ¬†3rd trimester here we go!

After a beautiful weekend of sunshine, we have been getting some crazy storms up here! ¬†I have to say, I’m glad it wasn’t the opposite. ¬†We spent the weekend getting some errands done, picking up supplies for a small DIY house project, hanging out with friends for a birthday party and a cookout, playing some corn hole, and an impromptu trip to Brighton Beach/Coney Island.

Please send some love and prayers this way as my Uncle is currently having surgery today. ¬†He’s been through a lot these past few months, and this surgery is extremely crucial to his health and well-being. ¬†So any positive thoughts you can spare would be much appreciated!

Hope you all are having a good week so far!
