Dress: ASOS / Shoes: Audrey Brooke / Jacket: LOFT / Clutch: Lulu Townsend / Lip: MAC Russian Red

On Zack – Tux: Men’s Wearhouse / Button Down: J. Crew

When I stumbled upon this dress, I knew I just HAD to have it. The perfect dress for a December wedding AND I can wear it for Christmas? Money well spent in my book! Apparently I wasn’t the only one, because it sold out quick! But I am here with some amazing news! Since I last posted this dress, it’s now back up for sale on the ASOS website! Guess it was so good, they decided to get more in stock! If you order it soon, you can still even have it for Christmas ūüôā

December has SERIOUSLY flown by. I am sitting here staring at my Christmas tree right now, and I’m a little bit sad that it will be my last day to enjoy it in 2015. We are back on the road tomorrow morning to head to Maryland for the holidays. Which means I should probably stop typing and start packing. Holiday cards and wrapping presents will have to wait until we are settled at my parent’s home. We have had a busy month, but I am looking forward to some more family time, friends, laughter, and fun since this really is my favorite time of the year. It’s even more fun this year as I think Nico is actually getting excited for Santa to arrive. The joy on his face makes my little heart melt into a puddle. I cannot wait to see his eyes light up on Christmas morning and imagine it will be purely magical.

Have a great weekend!

XO,

Gina

(Faux) Chinchilla Fur Jacket: Express (a couple years old, but similar here) / Plaid Button Up: Target (on sale!) / Denim: Rag & Bone / Booties: Target (on sale!) / Sunglasses: ModCloth / Bracelets: Tory Burch (similar), Stella & Sparkle / Watch: Michael Kors / Lip: Lancome Luxe

Call me crazy, but I absolutely adore the mix of plaid & fur¬†right now! ¬†To me, it’s a perfect fall or winter look. ¬†I was gifted this amazing jacket for Christmas a couple years ago, and I recently scored this bright button up¬†at Target. ¬†Mixed the two together, and boom. ¬†I¬†all the sudden look a lot more put together than I really am. ūüėČ

I wore this on a little trip to downtown Annapolis when we were visiting family and friends for the holidays. ¬†We started at Miss Shirley’s for breakfast. ¬†Let me tell you, if you are a Maryland local, and you have not yet been to Miss Shirley’s, you need to go there…like immediately. ¬†They have the best southern comfort food you could ever imagine. ¬†Proof here. ¬†From there, we headed down to walk around the gorgeous harbor, the historical homes, and popped into the amazing consignment shop, Navette. ¬†I found this shop¬†through Instagram, ordered from them over the phone, and even met one of their amazing owners for coffee in NYC, yet I still hadn’t visited their store front until this day! ¬†I was very excited and delighted to see a bustling shop full of fantastic treasures and happy customers. ¬†Unfortunately, due to a toddler naptime meltdown, I had to cut my trip there short, but I didn’t leave without scoring this fabulous Jonathan Adler clutch.

I’m looking forward to returning to Maryland again for Christmas, but until then, I am enjoying the holiday spirit up here in NYC. ¬†Our tree is up, and we took Nico to see Santa last weekend. ¬†Much to my surprise, there were no tears! ¬†Yay! ¬†I love New York City at Christmastime. ¬†If you missed yesterday’s post about things to do in December, check it out here.

This week I have been working on my holiday cards (which is pretty difficult with a bum thumb), online shopping for gifts, and listening to Christmas music non-stop. ¬†Tonight, I am getting out of the house to go to a holiday party with a friend, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Hope you are all enjoying the season!

Gina

Feeling nostalgic today from our vacation to the Outer Banks. ¬†If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already noticed I’m protesting my post-vacation blues. ¬†The photos above show some of my most favorite times in the OBX. ¬†Doing. ¬†Absolutely. ¬†Nothing. ¬†Relaxation in it’s purest form. ¬†There’s just something about a porch swing at sunset that immediately resets my zen. ¬†After a long day in the hot sun, taking walks and building sandcastles, it feels great to come back to the cottage, have a nice shower, and climb into the porch swing and just sway. ¬†Feeling the breeze as the sun drops down below the horizon brings an immediate feeling of calm and a sense of peacefulness that I haven’t been able to really recreate anywhere else but here. ¬†Sometimes I will even bring a book into the swing and get lost into some other dream world. ¬†This year, I brought Nico onto the swing with me, and for a kid who otherwise at this age is squirmy and adventurous, I was mildly surprised with his ability to just snuggle and relax with me on the swing for awhile. ¬†It was as if he was silently saying, “Oh hey Mom, yeah I could get the hang of this relax in the porch swing thing.” ¬†I’m lucky that my little one still does love to snuggle with me often‚Ķusually at night before bedtime. ¬†But as he approaches his first birthday and becomes more independent, I start to see him squiggle away from me more and more as he explores the world around him. ¬†It makes me sad, but at the same time I know he has to grow. ¬†Part of me wants to cling and keep him small forever though and that part of me is going to soak up every moment I can while he is still little enough to be wrapped in my arms cuddling on the porch swing.

Gina

Aside from the amazing Mother’s Day gift that I received from my husband and son, I also received¬†an¬†incredible mommy necklace made especially for me by Lori¬†of Love, Lori Michelle. ¬†She worked with me to custom design the necklace I am wearing in this post, and we chose a heart with an “N” cut out in the corner for my little Nico. ¬†Lori is a digital artist and designer whose work with 3D models inspired her to create 3D printed jewelry. ¬†Most of her early designs were created as birthday or wedding gifts for friends, and she prides herself on her custom one-of-a-kind designs. ¬†Her silver and stainless steel pieces are both beautiful and original, and I’m so happy to be the recipient of such a wonderful gift!

What is 3D printing you ask? ¬†Lori describes the printing process here if you’d like to read on.

My 1st Mother’s Day was absolutely everything I could have asked for and more. ¬†Nico woke up an hour later than his normal time babbling “Mama Mama” in his crib to awake me from slumber. ¬†A whole extra hour to sleep in? ¬†That never happens! ¬†And saying Mama? ¬†First time ever! ¬†What better way to wake up on my first Mother’s day huh?

We ate breakfast together at home, and then headed outside as it was a perfect, sunny, beautiful day sans humidity. ¬†Naturally the beach was calling our name!¬† Although it wasn’t quite bathing suit and ocean weather, it was a perfect day for walking around Coney Island. ¬†It was just before tourist season, so it wasn’t too crowded. ¬†We had delicious pizza at the new Grimaldi’s (which is super family friendly by the way), and we took a long walk on the boardwalk and out on the pier. ¬†We watched people on the rides, got ice cream cones, and even played a little ski ball. ¬†The best part was watching Nico’s face as he saw people the Cyclone¬†for the first time. ¬†I’m guessing he was thinking: 1) What is that, and 2) That looks awesome! ¬†I love seeing him experience things for the first time, and I admit I even got a little teary.

We are headed off to New Hampshire this morning for the Memorial Day holiday.  If you want to follow our adventures, you can catch me on Instagram!

‘Tis the Season

IMG_1821_Layers_v1

‘Tis the Season! ¬†I did a little me-shopping for the holidays, and picked up this jeweled sweatshirt from StyleMint as well as these adorable burgundy bow smoking slippers from Seychelles. ¬†This outfit was a perfect blend of being polished and dressy enough for the Thanksgiving weekend festivities, but also allowed me to stay comfortable at the same time. ¬†This particular day, my family all came to my parents house to meet our little Nico for the first time. ¬†It went well and our little guy certainly has a lot of people who love him!

I also took advantage of the Starbucks drive-thru while in Maryland. ¬†My neighborhood doesn’t have one, and I haven’t been venturing out of it too often while on maternity leave. ¬†I absolutely swoon over their holiday lattes, and this year was no different. ¬†I tried the Caramel Brulee Latte for the first time, and loved it so much, I got one the following day for the drive back to NY as well. ¬†Yum!

Things have been a little crazy in the Notes household this past weekend. ¬†We’ve been trying to get Nico on a better sleeping pattern (i.e. trying to get him to go to sleep without it taking 2+ hours). ¬†It hasn’t been fun, but after a few short days, I think it’s actually starting to work. ¬†The whole family might be on a track toward good sleep (fingers crossed). ¬†This is just the first of many tough parenting decisions we have had to make. ¬†No one can really explain how hard motherhood can be sometimes. ¬†We are just figuring everything out along the way. ¬†Oh! ¬†We have also come super close to finding a nanny for our little guy! ¬†We have interviewed a lot, and we think we just may have found the one. ¬†Hoping it all works out for the best!

Happy Monday everyone!

Gina

Saturday Stroll

IMG_0477_Layers_v1

The weather has been so gorgeous, and last weekend was perfect for a Saturday stroll with the whole family. ¬†We headed over to Caton Park (near Prospect Park) to check out the kids playing soccer (boy, do I miss soccer!), and then headed out for a second family dinner at a local Thai restaurant. ¬†Yes, I had dessert before dinner…oops! ¬†But the coconut ice being sold at the fields was too yummy to turn down. ¬†Nico is loving his stroller (thanks Mimi/Nano and Aunt Angie/Uncle Adam!) ¬†We are pretty lucky to have received this gift as it’s basically the Mercedes Benz version of a stroller. ¬†It even has shocks! ¬†I have to say, it’s perfect for our bumpy neighborhood sidewalks, and it’s definitely getting a ton of use right now.

I’m feeling good and had a great post partum doc appointment this past week. ¬†Nico also had his 1 month appointment. ¬†He seriously disliked getting his shot (Mommy and Baby were both in tears.) However, he is hitting his milestones so far and is looking to be a healthy baby at this point, so I could not be happier!

Looking forward to the weekend and having Daddy home with us. ¬†I’m picking up a dress for one of my best friend’s wedding’s next weekend. ¬†I was super worried about how it was going to look having just had a baby, but luckily the material is forgiving and the color is black! ¬†Also, breastfeeding and walking around the neighborhood have proven to be advantageous to starting me off on getting my old figure back. ¬†I have to keep reminding myself that it took me 9 months to get the way I was, so getting back to normal is not going to happen overnight!

Also on our possible weekend agenda is taking Nico out for his first visit to the pumpkin patch!  Hoping photos will follow.

Happy Friday and a Happy Weekend to all!
