Day Date

img_9686_layers_v1

It’s not every day you get a day date in Manhattan. But hubby and I had been wanting to do a “Paint Nite” event for the longest time, and when we saw one with a cool painting for 1:00 on a Saturday, we jumped at the chance. Thankfully, our babysitter was able to switch her plans around to be there for us, and we decided to make a whole day of it, treating ourselves to brunch beforehand. While typically trying to make the healthy choice as a health + fitness coach, I dove into some chicken + waffles and a Bloody Mary at Whitman + Bloom. It’s not every day you get a day date as parents, right? We really got into the painting and became totally swept into the whole experience despite my lack of artistic ability (hubby is pretty good though!) We had a ton of fun getting out of our comfort zones, and I have to say, I was pretty impressed with how our work turned out! Feel free to check my Instagram for the finished product!

Wow, what a weekend! A day date, and a 60+ degree day in February? Whaaat? Crazy. We are on Winter Break over here, so mama is trying to come up with a plan of action for activities and things to do, while still being able to get some work done around here! Haha. I have a feeling it’s going to be a crazy week, but a fun one!

Hope you’re enjoying the holiday weekend and cheers to an awesome week ahead!

Hope you all had a FABULOUS Thanksgiving yesterday!!! We had a wonderful day and meal with family, and I splurged on not one…but TWO pieces of pumpkin pie. Yup, that sweet tooth just took over! Eeeps! It was just so darn good, and it only comes around once a year! Luckily, I have a plan in place to get back on track with a cleanse and a new program come Monday!!

Today is Black Friday, and apparently all the stores were open even EARLIER this year for the holiday sales. I stopped going to the stores on Black Friday a long time ago. I just can’t deal with the pushing and pulling and crowds…no thank you! I will just do my shopping from the comfort of my own home on my laptop! OR since I do love the spirit and energy of in person holiday shopping, I do enjoy a trip when the crowds have died down a bit. For those of you who ARE looking for some Black Friday fashion steals, check out Macy’s, Kohl’s, H&M, Target, Dick’s, Urban Outfitters, The Dreslyn, and Bailey44. For electronics, Target, Sam’s Club, Best Buy, and Walmart seem to be where it’s at. And my favorites for online steals are Brickyard Buffalo + ASOS.

Good luck, and Happy Shopping!!! Or if you are like me…enjoy the weekend with family and friends, and then snag those Cyber Monday steals ūüėČ

It’s feeling like fall around here and the fall foliage is in full force. The sun has been shining and it’s been pretty nice for the start of November. Generally the holidays are one of the most fun times of the year, but they can also be really stressful with all the shopping and parties and traveling and more. All the more reason for me to take on the 3 Week Yoga Retreat this month for my Namaste November Challenge Group (which officially started yesterday)! Many of my coaches and challengers will be doing the new kickboxing program…and I WILL be joining them soon…but I thought it was important to give my body a bit of a rest after Hammering + Chiseling for the past two months. I am MORE than excited for 21 days of ZEN if I do say so myself.

My little guys are both on the move now and the playground is more fun than ever with both of them running around, sliding together, walking around holding hands, and more. They get stir crazy at home, so I need to keep getting them out of the house as much as possible before it gets frigid around here and I come running to you all in need of more ideas for indoor activities!

Enjoyed a few much needed movie nights with the hubs over the weekend (we NEVER watch movies these days), but caught up with Dope + Whiplash. Both awesome and I would recommend! Though most of you are probably all, been there done that! Haha.

Hope you are all having a great week so far! I’m off to the polls to get my vote on.

‘Tis the season of SPARKLE!!!! This was supposed to be my New Year’s Eve outfit, but I got excited and wore it on Christmas Eve instead. I planned on wearing my red dress, but decided I wanted to feel¬†a little more casual…but not TOO casual. So I managed to dress up black leggings with nothing else other than a little sparkle, blazer, and a hat. And who knew my aunt would be bringing hats for each one of the gals at the party for a “funny hat” photo?! Guess I had a sixth sense or something…

Christmas was a blast as usual with lots of family craziness, keeping kids up late, some crankiness, tons of presents, cookies galore, and much much more. We had a great time…I wish it hadn’t felt like such a rush through it all. Nico really enjoyed himself and it was amazing just seeing all the excitement in his eyes. Oh how I love the magic of Christmas! Luca slept through most of the excitement of his 1st Christmas, but he was mostly his smiley self when awake (except when we kept him up past bedtime LOL.)

This week I am hoping to relax a little more, see some more family and friends, get back into a workout routine, ramp up some work time…and maybe even get a little date night or something. It’s hard with two kids, but we’re trying!

Hope you are all enjoying this wonderful holiday season!

Gina

Last weekend we wandered around SoHo popping into art galleries and shops before heading to a playdate with friends at CitiBabes.  This winter I am all about comfy cozy, and this was the perfect casual weekend outfit for me.

This week, I have been partaking in a clean eating challenge, and so far it’s been going really well. ¬†I have been making delicious smoothies, attempted to make overnight oats for the first time, made hard boiled eggs and homemade hummus in advance, and stocked my fridge with healthy snacks like yogurt, fruit, veggies, and even a little cheese. ¬†My husband has been AMAZING with helping to keep up this challenge by cooking a healthy, clean dinner for us every night. ¬†We’ve had a fish taco bowl, pork tenderloin with swiss chard and sweet potatoes, stewed chicken with zucchini, and more. ¬†I am feeling super healthy, and I am hoping I have inspired my group to feel the same this week.

On another note, my friend Shirin sent me a little sample of a microdermabrasion cleanser from Rodan & Fields to try out. ¬†As someone who doesn’t use these often, the texture was a little weird for me at first, but after rinsing it off, I couldn’t help but notice how soft my skin felt afterwards. ¬†I also really enjoyed the lip serum that she included in the package. ¬†Thanks girl!

Happy it’s Friday! ¬†My mother-in-law is coming to town today to hang out with us, and we are very excited to catch up! ¬†The hubs and I are also very excited to have a night out this weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day. ¬†We are heading to The NoMad for the first time for a fancy date and couldn’t be more excited! ¬†Even better, we are also going to catch a flick beforehand. ¬†No, it’s not going to be your typical 50 Shades of Gray…we talked about it…but the reviews were just too bad. ¬†Instead we are taking the non-traditional route and heading to the IFC Center to see the Oscar Nominated Animated Shorts. ¬†It’s one of my favorite programs that I see every year having worked in the animation industry for so long. ¬†I wasn’t sure we were going to make it this year, but I’m happy to say we will!

Hope you all share lots of love with family and friends this weekend and enjoy the long holiday for the Presidents as well.

Gina

Happy Hump Day!  These photos were taken on a slow weekend in the city.  We meandered over to the neighborhood of Red Hook in Brooklyn for a delicious brunch at my favorite place, Home Made.  Let me tell you their french toast is to die for.  Also, if you are a scrambled egg person, the truffle scramble is sensational.  We settled in this comfy little spot on the cozy couches and had a lovely meal with just the three of us.  We then followed up brunch with a grocery trip to Fairway Market.  Just a typical little Saturday for ya.  Complete with the wind whipping around, a taste of winter lurking just around the corner.

Off to warmer weather tomorrow in sunny Arizona!  Feel free to follow along on Instagram for updates while we are away.

On Brianna – Romper: Forever 21 / Sandals: Michael Kors / Necklaces: Forever 21

Introducing my beautiful niece, Brianna. ¬†You may remember a few posts way back when from my Style Envy segments with Marisa and Alex. ¬†Every now and then I like to showcase someone else’s style rather than my own, and Brianna was looking so adorable in this romper while we were on vacation in Cape May that I just had to snap some photos at the beach. ¬†Rompers made a small come back last summer, and they are still¬†in full force this season. ¬†It’s so nice to only think about one piece. ¬†No need to worry about which top is going to go with which bottom. ¬†Matchy matchy tops and bottoms have also been a trend this season, so why not just buy one piece and call it a day? ¬†Of course, everyone’s main complaint about rompers is the ever-annoying hassle of going to the bathroom, but in my opinion, it’s no big deal to suck it up for a day for the sake of fashion. ¬†That’s what we women do, right?

Onto my niece…Bri is one of those people with a natural easy-going attitude. ¬†She’s always down for an adventure, for trying fun new things, and she’s a total pleasure to be around. ¬†Throughout the week whenever someone would make a suggestion about something fun to do, she was always up for it. ¬†No matter how weird to crazy the activity, she was always excited to partake. ¬†Want to go play skee-ball at the arcade?¬†¬†Yup. ¬†Want to go for a walk?¬†¬†Yup. ¬†Want to take photos on the beach?¬†¬†Yup. ¬†Want to go get ice cream?¬†¬†Yup. ¬†Want to go on a four-person family bike?¬† Yup. ¬†She reminds me of my husband (her uncle) never wanting to sit around. ¬†Always go go go‚Ķthey might miss something or won’t be able to enjoy the most out of their vacation if they are relaxing too much. ¬†We had a blast hanging out at the beach, and I only wish she and my sister-in-law could have stayed longer!

On a final note, I turned 30 over the weekend. ¬†That’s right THIRTY. ¬†Holy crap. ¬†Where does the time go? ¬†I remember when I used to think thirty was so old. ¬†It’s crazy how much I have grown and changed in the last decade. ¬†Met Zack, graduated college, moved to New York City, got into the animation/advertising industry, partied my ass off, traveled, got married, moved to Brooklyn, slowed down, had a baby, and now I’m a mom of an almost 1-year-old. ¬†My twenties were a lot of fun indeed. ¬†As scary as 30 sounds, I do admit, I am excited to embrace this new decade with the¬†clarity, responsibility, and self-awareness that I did not always exhibit in my twenties. ¬†Sure occasionally I know¬†I will miss my carefree days, but my life is all about my family and closest friends right now, and I couldn’t be happier.

Special thanks to my husband for planning an amazing 30th surprise weekend for me complete with Six Flags, a fancy dinner, a night on the town, and finished with a beach day.  I am a lucky lady.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Gina

Rain Boots:  Hunter / Leg Warmers: similar / Tribal Leggings: Forever 21 Рsimilar / Coat: Old Navy / Top: Urban Outfitters / Necklace: Guilty Jean / Lip: Lancome Red Haute

These photos were taken on our trip to the lake house in New Hampshire on a chilly, rainy day.  Instead of swimming or hiking, we spent this day eating Mexican food, browsing the local Wolfeboro shops, playing games, and drinking wine.  These boots were a recent gift from the hubby for our 3rd wedding anniversary.  Totally picked out on his own, mind you!  Perfect timing for rainy season, and it seemed appropriate to share today as the rain is currently falling.

Love, Lori Michelle

Aside from the amazing Mother’s Day gift that I received from my husband and son, I also received¬†an¬†incredible mommy necklace made especially for me by Lori¬†of Love, Lori Michelle. ¬†She worked with me to custom design the necklace I am wearing in this post, and we chose a heart with an “N” cut out in the corner for my little Nico. ¬†Lori is a digital artist and designer whose work with 3D models inspired her to create 3D printed jewelry. ¬†Most of her early designs were created as birthday or wedding gifts for friends, and she prides herself on her custom one-of-a-kind designs. ¬†Her silver and stainless steel pieces are both beautiful and original, and I’m so happy to be the recipient of such a wonderful gift!

What is 3D printing you ask? ¬†Lori describes the printing process here if you’d like to read on.

My 1st Mother’s Day was absolutely everything I could have asked for and more. ¬†Nico woke up an hour later than his normal time babbling “Mama Mama” in his crib to awake me from slumber. ¬†A whole extra hour to sleep in? ¬†That never happens! ¬†And saying Mama? ¬†First time ever! ¬†What better way to wake up on my first Mother’s day huh?

We ate breakfast together at home, and then headed outside as it was a perfect, sunny, beautiful day sans humidity. ¬†Naturally the beach was calling our name!¬† Although it wasn’t quite bathing suit and ocean weather, it was a perfect day for walking around Coney Island. ¬†It was just before tourist season, so it wasn’t too crowded. ¬†We had delicious pizza at the new Grimaldi’s (which is super family friendly by the way), and we took a long walk on the boardwalk and out on the pier. ¬†We watched people on the rides, got ice cream cones, and even played a little ski ball. ¬†The best part was watching Nico’s face as he saw people the Cyclone¬†for the first time. ¬†I’m guessing he was thinking: 1) What is that, and 2) That looks awesome! ¬†I love seeing him experience things for the first time, and I admit I even got a little teary.

We are headed off to New Hampshire this morning for the Memorial Day holiday.  If you want to follow our adventures, you can catch me on Instagram!

Along with spring cleaning, we also joined my grandmother and aunt for lunch over the weekend while they were in Brooklyn for the day. ¬†Now that the weather is getting warmer, I’m excited to break out the dresses again. ¬†A maxi dress lends itself to putting together a complete look quickly. ¬†It allows you to stay comfortable, but also put together at the same time. ¬†Nico is just starting to be a bit more mobile and with all the chasing I imagine on the horizon, I have a feeling maxi dresses are going to be a staple item again this summer. ¬†The only difference (as I quickly learned Saturday) is that I am going to have to hem my maxis. ¬†They tend to run a little long when I’m sans baby bump!

In case you missed my post yesterday, I’m hosting a little closet sale over on Pinterest¬†if you are interested in checking it out!

Hope you are all having a great week so far!
