Day Date

img_9686_layers_v1

It’s not every day you get a day date in Manhattan. But hubby and I had been wanting to do a “Paint Nite” event for the longest time, and when we saw one with a cool painting for 1:00 on a Saturday, we jumped at the chance. Thankfully, our babysitter was able to switch her plans around to be there for us, and we decided to make a whole day of it, treating ourselves to brunch beforehand. While typically trying to make the healthy choice as a health + fitness coach, I dove into some chicken + waffles and a Bloody Mary at Whitman + Bloom. It’s not every day you get a day date as parents, right? We really got into the painting and became totally swept into the whole experience despite my lack of artistic ability (hubby is pretty good though!) We had a ton of fun getting out of our comfort zones, and I have to say, I was pretty impressed with how our work turned out! Feel free to check my Instagram for the finished product!

Wow, what a weekend! A day date, and a 60+ degree day in February? Whaaat? Crazy. We are on Winter Break over here, so mama is trying to come up with a plan of action for activities and things to do, while still being able to get some work done around here! Haha. I have a feeling it’s going to be a crazy week, but a fun one!

Hope you’re enjoying the holiday weekend and cheers to an awesome week ahead!

Top: J. Crew Factory – sold out but other colors here / Hat: J. Crew Factory / Denim: AG Jeans / Booties: Target / Lip: MAC Rebel

Friday night post whoooo! Maybe some of you are as lame as me and able to read this tonight…maybe not ūüėČ Either way, hopefully you get a chance to check it out at some point over the weekend haha.

I took these photos last weekend when it was truly starting to feel like fall and then we had a week of 80 degree weather!!!! LOL! Go figure! I scored this J. Crew top and hat over at the Factory outlet on summer vacation, and was excited to finally bust them out.

You may have gotten a glimpse of my crazy week over on Facebook, but things are looking up and trying to focus on the positive. Last weekend we had good friends in town and took them up to Bear Mountain for an awesome fall hike. We made it to the top, and I was incredibly impressed that my 3 year old did 95% of the hike himself! I carried the baby on my back which was an extra workout, and we had a great time catching up while enjoying the great outdoors. Tomorrow we are on the road to Maryland to reunite and celebrate a dear friend who has a baby on the way.

In other news, I have the BIGGEST popcorn and pandas giveaway of the YEAR coming up which I will announce here on MONDAY!!!! So make sure you come on back to see what it’s all about! ūüôā

Happy Weekend!

XO,

Gina

P.S. I need a haircut. Any good ideas? Throw them my way! ūüėČ

Back at you this Friday with the full outfit post. I had so many of you ask where I got this darling sweater¬†below. I got it around Christmastime at Nordstrom, and it is made by Halogen. Unfortunately, it’s no longer in stock…even at Nordstrom Rack. I have searched high and low for something “similar” but have come up short. Halogen does make another cute sweater though that is on super sale at Nordstrom Rack right now and is also very soft with embroidery if you want to check that one out. Looks like there are a few left if you hurry. Sorry to disappoint. I was hoping to find something similar, but maybe Halogen will come out with another great find soon!

Also, this sweater is not super similar, but along the lines of Paris and French things, I do love this one as well from Catherine Malandrino via Neiman Marcus Last Call.

Additionally, I scored this houndstooth coat marked 50% off at H&M right before Christmas. I tried it on while babywearing and had no idea if it was truly going to fit me, but I decided to take the risk, and I’m glad I did!

Happy Friday!! This week has been pretty smooth which can be rare when you have two kids, you are running a business, and you are on the road a lot. Thankfully the babes have been napping regularly and have been in the best of moods. I think the trick has been to wear them out in the morning so they are ready to crash in the afternoon and then mama can get a little break haha. At least that has been working this week. I’m sure next week will change ūüėČ

Have a date night planned with the hubs tonight and a busy, but exciting weekend ahead! TGIF!

Hey gang! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve done a fashion post. Trust me, it’s not because I haven’t wanted to! It’s just that with working at home with two little ones these days, it’s hard enough to get DRESSED in clothing outside of athletic wear let alone have the time to have PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE that I got dressed haha. But alas, a wonderful friend of mine recently moved to NYC with her fiance, and they made the trek out to Brooklyn to see us for brunch this past weekend. I decided this was a great opportunity to, you know…put on real clothes, swipe¬†on some makeup, and actually blow dry my hair for once! ūüėČ Not that she cared how I looked when I showed up, but it’s the little things people, it’s the little things! So, thank you Tissy! It was a gorgeous fall day for a neighborhood stroll, and we ended the evening with Halloween festivities later that night!

This week is going to be a crazy one as we are leaving for Maryland on Wednesday night to spend the weekend there celebrating one of my BFF’s getting married! So excited for our first night out without the kids since Luca was born, although also slightly anxious…even though I know they will be in good hands with family. Going to do my best to stay on track with Round 2 of the 21 Day Fix this week as well amidst the craziness.

Hope you are all starting this week off right!

Gina

Happy Hump Day!  These photos were taken on a slow weekend in the city.  We meandered over to the neighborhood of Red Hook in Brooklyn for a delicious brunch at my favorite place, Home Made.  Let me tell you their french toast is to die for.  Also, if you are a scrambled egg person, the truffle scramble is sensational.  We settled in this comfy little spot on the cozy couches and had a lovely meal with just the three of us.  We then followed up brunch with a grocery trip to Fairway Market.  Just a typical little Saturday for ya.  Complete with the wind whipping around, a taste of winter lurking just around the corner.

Off to warmer weather tomorrow in sunny Arizona!  Feel free to follow along on Instagram for updates while we are away.

Minnie Sweatshirt: Shop Navette (consignment shop) / Blouse: Old Navy / Denim: Rag & Bone / Booties: Target / Sunglasses: Vintage Kenneth Cole/ Bag: Thrifted / Watch: Michael Kors / Leather Wrap Bracelet: Tory Burch – similar / Lip: MAC Rebel

I’ve been on a Minnie Mouse kick recently, and when I saw this on the Shop Navette Instagram page, I knew I had to have it. ¬†I longingly commented on their post that I wished they could ship to me in Brooklyn (they are located in Annapolis, MD), and low and behold, they could! ¬†I jumped for joy, and have been rocking this sweatshirt ever since. ¬†I love how it looks a little more put together when layered with a blouse for fall.

We had friends in town this weekend, and we took them upstate to hike Bear Mountain. ¬†Little did we know, they were also having an Oktoberfest extravaganza. ¬†We walked right into a party, and at the end of our hike, I decided it was only fair that I partake in the festivities after working so hard on the hike ūüėČ ¬†We also went on a walk around the neighborhood to grab breakfast at Cafe Madeline, and had to take some photos with the fall foliage.

Back to Disney…I’m on such a Disney kick that Nico is even going to be Mickey Mouse this year for Halloween. ¬†I’m so excited that he will be more aware of the holiday this year. ¬†I have already tested out his fear factor to prep him for the big night by trying on silly and scary masks at the stores, and so far he seems completely interested and not at all scared. ¬†That’s my boy. ¬†Can’t wait to see him in his little costume. ¬†What is everyone (and their littles) going to be for Halloween? ¬†Would love to hear in the comments below!

Wishing you all a fantastic week!

Gina

Paint the Town Blue

IMG_0926_Layers_v1

This is one of my favorite jackets to wear for fall, and you can see I wore it last fall as well. ¬†I received this beautiful necklace as a new mommy gift from a friend, and I just couldn’t wait to style it! ¬†I have been reluctant to do a full shopping spree this season since I am in a bit of a limbo period where some of my old clothes still fit, but some of them are still too small. ¬†I am hesitant to go out and buy a bunch of new clothes in bigger sizes than my “normal.” (especially pants.) ¬†So all the items here have been recycled from my current closet. ¬†Everything you see here has been worn in a previous post, but I mixed and matched to create this new look for the season.

Hope you all had a great weekend. ¬†We celebrated Nico’s 1st Halloween party with the parents and babies in the neighborhood, carved a pumpkin, took a couple walks and did some things around the house. ¬†Nico has his 2 month doctor’s appointment this week (wow, 2 months already!) and it’s also Halloween! ¬†Not sure if we will actually walk around with him this year or we will just give out candy on the stoop. ¬†What are your plans this Halloween? ¬†Or what did you do to celebrate this past weekend?

{15} Lately…

lately

Lately I’ve been…

reading¬† Just finished a couple books including Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan, and Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. ¬†Maine was an okay beach read, but I honestly didn’t care for the characters all that much. ¬†They were a bit bitchy and whiny, and while they were all family, it was pretty tough for them to all get along. ¬†It was a decent read, but not a must for me. ¬†Sharp Objects on the other hand was a really good book. ¬†If you liked Gone Girl, then you will like this book as well. ¬†This mystery/thriller is an easy read that captures your attention, and makes you unable to put it down.

writing¬† Finished all of my thank you notes for the many wonderful gifts we received for our little guy! ¬†I’m also writing up my to-do lists for how to train our new employee who is coming in next week and will be filling in while I’m on maternity leave. ¬†Can’t believe it’s almost that time!

listening  Loving this summer jam, Reload by Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Trash, and John Martin.  Makes me wanna dance.

thinking ¬†It’s been a beautiful week here in NYC, and that I am incredibly lucky the weather has been kind to me this August.

smelling  The new Bath and Body works lotion I got for my birthday, Rio Rumberry.

watching¬† A French, indie film called¬†The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. ¬†I read the book a few years ago, and have been wanting to watch the movie ever since. ¬†It’s a true story about well-known man in the fashion industry who became a paraplegic and learned to communicate and write a novel with the blink of his eye. ¬†Fascinating.

wishing¬† That the rocking chair/glider that just arrived for our nursery didn’t feel like it was taking over the entire room. ¬†I swear it didn’t look that big in the photos! ¬†I think I’m starting to get used to it, but when it first arrived, I was in a bit of shock!

hoping  For a fun, yet productive weekend ahead!  Planning on finally checking out the Hester Street Fair (for real this time), attending a Brooklyn Cyclones game with friends, and putting in some more work on the nursery.

wearing ¬†An old blue/green maxi skirt from American Eagle that I’ve had in my closet for awhile now paired with a coral and white striped maternity tee from Motherhood. ¬†Old Navy white flip flops for comfort, and my vintage sunnies. ¬†

loving ¬†These sexy, fall booties from ALDO. ¬†Gah, I can’t wait to wear heels again!

laughing ¬†We’ve been listening to all the comedy stations on XM Radio during our past few long car rides. ¬†I’m usually the driver, but Zack has had to drive a bit this summer due to my pregnancy sleepiness. ¬†We find that laughing while driving is a good way to stay awake.

wanting ¬†To be with my family this week in the Outer Banks, NC on our annual vacation. ¬†It’s the one time of the year when both sides of my family all get together, and it’s one of my favorite weeks of the year. ¬†However, I know I’m staying put in NY for a very good reason! ¬†Luckily, the weather has been so great here, and I have been keeping myself distracted with a busy work schedule and prepping for the baby to arrive. ¬†I just flash forward to next year when we will have an almost-one-year-old running around with us at the beach!

needing ¬†To get my hospital bag packed. ¬†Next week I’ll be full term, and they say you could go at any time between 37-42 weeks. ¬†I know that is a big, open time frame, but you also never know when the little one will want to make his debut! ¬†Therefore, that is on the top of my list for weekend priorities.

feeling ¬†Pretty good! ¬†Sometimes it’s hard to get comfortable, and I have to pee at all times, but overall, I am feeling pretty good in these last few weeks of pregnancy.

craving ¬†Sweets. ¬†It’s probably not good, and I typically have a sweet tooth anyway…but I’m finding myself wanting something sweet almost every day now. ¬†I guess I can milk these last few weeks while I can ūüėČ

clicking  Through many animated commercials that our new clients have done.  Been trying to familiarize myself with their work as much as I can.

*

What have you been up to lately?

Happy Friday!  Hope you all have a great weekend!

Love,

Gina

Ombre Necklace {Flair Accessories Series #3}

IMG_5962

Here is the third outfit post in my Flair Accessories Series. ¬†I had so much fun styling these pieces, and this one in particular certainly makes a bold statement. ¬†I love this mix of colors for winter. ¬†While many outfits during this season can feel rather dull, the pops of blue, green, and yellow made me feel vibrant and energetic despite the chilly temps. ¬†How would you style this piece of “Flair” this winter?

I spent most of the weekend hibernating in my Brooklyn abode due to snowy conditions. ¬†I did take a walk on Saturday and tested out some new things I learned in my photography class around the neighborhood. ¬†Other than that, I mostly relaxed, caught up on blogs and e-mails from last week, & watched a few movies. ¬†Last night, I had a dinner date with the hubby at a place called The Costello Plan in our hood. ¬†It’s a really romantic, quiet little spot, and I think I had the best gnocchi I have ever tasted there. ¬†We ended the night watching a bit of the Grammy’s. ¬†Shout out to Mumford & Sons for winning best album for their second album, “Babel.” ¬†I heart them. ¬†I’m sure you’ve heard this song, but here is a little something to get you going this Monday morning.
