I blinked, and it was the end of January! Holy smokes. February is right around the corner, and yesterday was the first time I thought about Valentine’s Day. It’s not a huge holiday in our family, but we still do like to do something nice to celebrate at some point during the week. Though as of today, we’ve made absolutely no plans, and I have no gifts for my people’s yet! Oopsie!

I do, however, have a cute outfit! Haha. I found this sweet little off the shoulder lace shift dress at Tobi in a wine color, and I think it makes an adorable little date night dress for a romantic evening out. I pulled together some other favorites from my closet to complete the look, and now I just need to figure out somewhere to go, right? 😉

What are you doing for Valentine’s Day? Do you have any plans? Going out? Staying in? Did you buy any gifts for your loved ones? Spouse? Partner? Littles? I need ideas, you guys!! LOL!

In other news, I hit 11 weeks of my pregnancy with Baby #3 this week, and I’ll be heading to the doc tomorrow, so I would absolutely appreciate any prayers or good vibes you could send my way! I am feeling okay. A little nauseous and super exhausted the past few weeks, but overall it’s been easier than my last two pregnancies, so I can’t complain too much! I think someone upstairs is being kind to me this time around know that I have two little dudes to chase on the regular.

I have been feeling a little more energy this week and been listening to my body when it comes to nourishment and exercise. My January Challenge Group is ending tomorrow and my February one will be starting on Feb 5th and is all about SELF-LOVE!!! I plan to continue to listen to my body and do what it needs for myself and baby, and I’m looking forward to supporting all of the amazing ladies who have been crushing their programs and those who will be starting fresh this month as well! There is still a little bit of time and a few spots left to sign up to join us on Monday, so please reach out if you’re ready to take action and reach some goals this upcoming month!

Hope you all are having an amazing week, and sending you lots of love!

Farewell 2013

I can’t believe it’s time to say farewell to 2013.  It’s been a crazy year, but also a really fun one.  I want to thank all of you for continuing to check out my posts every day.  Your comments and kind words definitely keep me coming back here to this little blog of mine.  Your favorite post was when I announced my husband and I were having a boy!  That little boy sure has changed our world.  You also liked my recipes for garden fresh tomato sauce and homemade pesto.  Who knew I could actually be crafty with my DIY Nursery Letters, which you all also seemed to enjoy.  And your favorite outfit post was this winter white number.

Now here is a little photo reminder of my trip to Maine, which is perfect for today’s celebrations.  I will most likely be in bed before the ball drops this year, because when you have a baby, you can’t stay up until midnight anymore.  Instead of drowning yourself in champagne and singing Auld Lang Syne while staring at the blurry fireworks…you sip some sparkling cider, cuddle your little one, put him to bed, and then climb into your own bed to catch up on sleep.  The difference in Brooklyn is that us parents postpone celebrations for a chic daytime party with other parents and babies in the neighborhood at the local bar (which I am looking forward to by the way).  So we will still be celebrating tomorrow, just during baby-friendly hours. 🙂

I am wishing you all the most wonderful New Year for 2014!

XO,

Gina

Blazer: Target / Peplum Top: StyleMint – sold out, but also like this one and this one / Pants: Motherhood / Sunnies: ModCloth / Leopard Pumps: Liz Claiborne – on sale! / Necklace: Forever 21 / Watch: Michael Kors / Bracelets: Baublebar and Henri Bendel / Earrings: ALDO / Lip: MAC Candy Yum Yum

I didn’t listen.  They told me not to wear white.  “You’re a new mom.  Moms just can’t wear white.”  I despised this statement.  I thought to myself, “I can rock white.  Just because I’m a mom, now I can’t wear white?  But I like white.  Who cares what they say.  I’m going to be a rebel and do it anyway.”  So I flounced around in ivory lace skirts and more recently in this winter white blazer.  Well, I’m sad to say, everyone was right.  This white blazer lasted no more than an hour on our leisurely Saturday afternoon.  I won’t go into details, but you can probably imagine a scenario or two that could have happened to my white blazer.  The only upside was that I got to (had to) buy a new sweater to wear for the rest of the day.  The take away from this experience: I am not going to stop wearing white.  However, I will most likely save my white wearing days for those when I am back in the office with no little munchkins around.

It’s starting to get chilly here in New York City, and I am getting super excited for a little mini vacay we are taking to Florida on Wednesday!  The weather is looking nice and warm for our trip, and I have a fresh mani/pedi for the occasion (thanks hubby for watching Nico so I could enjoy 90 minutes of bliss).  It’s time to get packin’ over here.

Hope you all enjoy the week!

Lace Skirt on Repeat

IMG_1082_Layers_v1

This little lace skirt has become a staple in my wardrobe lately as I’m loving winter white, and it makes me feel better to not have to wear maternity jeans or yoga pants all the time.  Again, this outfit repurposes a lot of older outfits in my closet.  I’m looking forward to the day when I can start buying some new items back in my “normal” size, but for now, it’s been fun to recreate new outfits out of items I already own.

It’s been such a great year, and I am hopeful that this year will bring even greater joy.  Thank you so much for following my adventures.  Would love to hear any feedback that you have of things you want to see from me in the coming year.  What you like/don’t like.  What you want to see more or less of (outfit posts, lately posts, shopping posts, personal stories, photography, baby stuff, etc…)  I have less free time on my hands, but hopefully I can make things happen!

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Winter White

This ivory jacket and polka dot tights were amongst some of my favorite Christmas gifts I received this year.  Paired with an ivory and gold shimmery dress and a gold clutch, this made for the perfect New Year’s Eve outfit this year.  I also had the opportunity to break out my old wedding shoes for the first time since the big day.  Who knew I would be ever wearing these babies again?

Ivory Coat: Express (sold out) – other ivory coats I adore from Nordstrom (here and here),  Theory via Saks, Michael by Michael Kors via Victoria’s Secret, and Victoria’s Secret / Dress: Forever 21 / Tights: Madewell (currently on sale!) / Shoes: Nina (brides, there is a ridiculous sale on these beauties!) / Sunnies: Ann Taylor LOFT / Clutch: (old) / Bow Bracelet: BaubleBar / Bow Earrings: ALDO / Necklace and Rings: Family gifts / Lip: Lancome Groupie / Nails: Essie Metallics Good as Gold

Had a fantastic time this past weekend in the city.  Friday, I said my farewells to a good friend who is moving back to Connecticut to go to grad school.  My second bedroom is open whenever you want to come visit!

Saturday hung out with the hubs during the day, made some yummy breakfast, took down the Christmas tree (wahhh),  and…wait for it…went to see Les Mis!!!  Oh my gosh, it was so amazing.  Bring your tissues!  I have never seen the show, so I didn’t really know what to expect other than that it would be quite depressing.  However, I really enjoyed the movie, and thought Anne Hathaway had a spectacular performance.  After the film, I met up with a few friends in the East Village, and ended the night with the deliciousness of Pomme Frites.  If you have not been here, this place is a must for fabulous french fries dipped in more sauces than you could ever imagine.  Yum!

Sunday, the boy and I got in an awesome workout at the gym, went to Home Depot to pick out some paint colors for a new DIY project (and by DIY, I mean my cousin will be DIYing for us haha), and finally sat down to a fabulous home cooked meal while watching the Redskins game.  Unfortunately, our team did not pull out a win, but they gave a valiant effort.  Some decisions were pretty questionable, but what can you do.  The Skins had a great season, so still HAILING!

Hope you all have a great week!

XO,

Gina
