Sweater: Express / Tank: Old Navy / Jeans: Rag & Bone / Shoes: New Balance / Hat: Baltimore Orioles / Necklace: Love Lori Michelle

It’s tough to find the time to get in an outfit shoot these days, especially with the cold weather with two little ones when your husband is the photographer. I promise I still get dressed…sometimes. Well, at least on weekends. But enough with the excuses. We made it happen last weekend. A casual outfit for a casual day…brunch at Bar Bacon (amaze!), the playground, and a walk through Central Park. The kids both slept through brunch, so it was kind of like a date. It was nice to get into Manhattan and have the kids feel the magic of the city and the tall buildings, but also to escape to our favorite city sanctuary of Central Park.

Since I am generally in workout gear during the week these days, I normally dress up a little more over the weekends. But I felt like going for that sporty look with the sneakers and baseball cap. It’s not my typical go-to style, but it felt right for the day and felt comfortable for what we had planned. I even had a fellow mom strike up a convo with¬†me on the playground because of my Baltimore O’s hat. She was a former Marylander as well. See, not everyone in NY is a Yankees fan ūüėČ You can take the girl out of Maryland…

…but she will still sing the Star Bangled Banner with an “O!” (All you Maryland people know EXACTLY what I’m talking about! And everyone else is like huh?)

I digress…speaking of my hometown…we will be heading back there on Friday after the boy’s doc appointments (6 and 2.5 yr. check ups already!). Saturday we will be celebrating my baby boy Luca as¬†he will be officially welcomed into the Church! Very excited to celebrate his special day, which he will also share with his Papa who is turning 35! Looking forward to a day of family, friends, and celebration!

Hope you are all having a fantastic week!

Gina

I consider seeing Santa without crying this year a “GREAT SUCCESS!” ¬†(in a Borat voice). ¬†I was anticipating some possible tears due to the sheer fact of toddlerhood, but we tried to prep him with little Santa videos, talks about what we were going to do and just acting straight up excited about the experience. ¬†Of course, the toddler right in front of us started screaming bloody murder as soon as he got anywhere close to Santa, so I sensed Nico getting a little scared/nervous about what was going to happen. ¬†We ended up just easing our way up toward Santa slowly, chatting with him and giving him high fives, before we actually did the lap sitting. ¬†Luckily, the staff at Bloomingdale’s was incredibly patient. ¬†They did not rush us at all, and I love that you can also take your own photos there. ¬†Nico gave Santa a few sideways glances and seemed a little unsure about the whole thing, but eventually he cracked a slight¬†smile…enough to capture on camera. ¬†And like I said previously, no tears this year equals success in my book!

We are now down in Maryland with family preparing for the holidays.  I went shopping with the mama last night and braved the crazy crowds.  I have also spent most of this week wrapping presents for family and friends.  We are getting excited for our Seven Fishes Christmas Eve dinner tomorrow night!

Happy Holidays to you all!

Gina

Skulls Meet Spring

IMG_7653

It was a beautiful weekend, and I had the pleasure of hosting two of my favorite Baltimore blondes at our place on Saturday. ¬†We spent the day galavanting around Brooklyn and Manhattan…brunch at The Farm, followed by a day of shopping in Soho, & gelato and hot chocolate in Little Italy. ¬†Much to our surprise, we came home with our wallets full and bag-less. ¬†If you know us, you know this is not normal. ¬†However, it was probably for the best. ¬†We had planned to go out on the town that night, but we ended up passing out early from all the walking around we did.

The flowers in these photos make me happy, because it’s actually starting to feel and look like Spring around here! ¬†We also thought it was a nice bright contrast to my dark and stormy outfit.

Last night, the hubby and I went to see one of our favorite indie rock singer-songwriters perform, Matt Costa.  Let me tell you, this man is talented.  He plays the piano, harmonica, three different guitars, and has a voice that will make you melt.  His laid back style is very inviting and his tunes range in variety from bluegrass, folk, rock, and more.  Some of my personal favorites include: Miss Magnolia, Sunshine, & Mr. Pitiful.  He also has a lot of good tracks on his new album.  Check out some of his videos here.

Tonight, I am treating myself to a little mani-pedi with the other NY Alpha Phi Alums, and I cannot wait.  It will be the first pedi of the season, and boy do I need it!

On a heavier note, I am glad that my friends and family in Boston are safe and sound.  I am praying for all those who were affected by this tragedy.  I will never understand it, and it saddens me.  Sending love to Boston today.

Dinner Party

IMG_6864v2

There’s nothing like an impromptu Saturday night dinner party! ¬†I broke out the fine china (for only the second time in two years…let’s just say was about time to put those amazing wedding gifts to good use), and whipped up a little Italiano meal for the hubs and my friends Brooke (a new Brooklynite) and Kendel (visiting from Baltimore). ¬†Pasta with red sauce, breaded chicken, mixed green salad, and a bottle of red (or maybe two bottles of red). ¬†Doesn’t get much better than that huh? ¬†Except for maybe the little game of “Flip Coaster” we invented after dinner. ¬†Don’t even get me started on how insanely good Brooke is at this game–she put us all to shame. ¬†We had so much fun that we completely lost track of time, and the fact that we were supposed to be meeting friends out in Manhattan that night. ¬†Zack ended up crashing, but the girls and I rallied for a fun little night at the Back Room on the Lower East Side. ¬†The Back Room is a swank little speakeasy that serves cocktails in teacups and beer bottles in paper bags. ¬†We had a great time, and I’m thinking we will need to have a repeat date sometime soon!

A View From Weehawken

IMG_6496

Last Saturday we made the trek out to Weehawken, New Jersey for a good friend’s housewarming party. ¬†I have driven through the Lincoln Tunnel many times, and have looked up at the houses up in the cliffs imagining the stunning views they must have of Manhattan. ¬†Well, on Saturday I no longer had to imagine as I saw this view for myself! ¬†WOW. ¬†We spent tons of time hanging out on this ledge taking photos before joining the housewarming festivities…which were also a ton of fun by the way! ¬†Congrats to my friends on their new digs and their fabulous view!

Last night we held our final screening for our Race to the Oscars. ¬†We saw the Oscar Nominated Animated Shorts program! ¬†Most people don’t get a chance to see the films in this category, so I always feel like I have an upper hand when guessing the winner. ¬†I am always impressed by the level of talent, and this year was no disappointment.

If you haven’t already entered to win my giveaway, you have two more days to score these amazing stud earrings from Flair Accessories!
