Stella & Dot Trunk Show With Popcorn and Pandas

Stella & Dot Trunk Show With Popcorn and Pandas
All items Stella & Dot via my Online Trunk Show
Well, gang, it’s Friday!  It’s also the perfect day for a quick little lunch hour shopping spree.  My online trunk show for Stella & Dot is still going through the weekend (last day is Monday!), and I thought I would create a little wish list of picks for inspiration!  These are some of my favorite pieces from the line ranging from bright and sunny to hip and edgy.  There is still time to shop and win a chance to score your favorite piece for free or at 50% off!   While I would love to own every one of these pieces for myself, Stella & Dot also makes a great gift for a birthday, bridal shower, or anniversary.  This is just a small peek into what they have to offer, so be sure to check out the site and browse around at the rest of their goodies.  In case you missed my earlier posts, you can also check out the looks I created with Stella & Dot to see what some of their items look like in action (look 1 / look 2).  If you have any questions about the line, you can ask me or stylist, Jessica Sigler. We are happy to help!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  I am down here in NOLA for my 4th wedding anniversary with the hubs. The surprise went over fantastically, although I almost had an anxiety attack/started crying when we arrived at the airport to find an oversold flight with us being the shafted couple.  After 30 minutes of agony and bargaining from the Delta employees, someone finally volunteered to give up his seat for $900 cash.  I planned to sleep on the plane, but my blood pressure was way too high after THAT debacle!!!!  It gets crazier…Ethan Hawke was on our flight, and as I am walking onto the plane he smiles at me and congratulates me on my anniversary and that we were able to get on the plane. Ethan Hawke TALKED to me!!!!  I think my face broke from smiling so hard.
All ended well, thank goodness, and we are having a fabulous time in New Orleans!  Follow me on Instagram over the weekend for updates 🙂

Now that I am working from home as a fitness coach and freelance writer, chasing around a toddler and let’s be honest…being pregnant…the days of me dressing up for work are few and far between. I’m lucky if I put real clothes on once during the week and then I normally make up for it on the weekends. But during the week, my neighborhood is pretty casual, and I’m usually running around or working from home, so comfort is key! I decided to put together a little style board of fitness fashion this Friday in honor of my laid back athletic weekly style. What piece do you like the best?

Happy Friday! Also wishing you mamas out there a Happy Mother’s Day this weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend has passed which means it’s officially summer in my eyes!  We went north to New Hampshire over the weekend, and lucky for me, I didn’t have to put on a bathing suit.  I know lots of women tend to be self conscious at the beginning of summer.  Leftover weight from the holidays that hasn’t come off…pasty pale skin that hasn’t gotten tan yet.  You know the drill.  It’s normal.  Only this summer, I’m feeling a bit more self conscious than usual.  I mean, last year I was pregnant in a bathing suit, so as uncomfortable as that might be, at least I felt that I could own my body and be proud that I was carrying a little guy in there.  Now, 9 months post birth, I am feeling great, and I have shrank back to my pre-pregnancy weight…and even back almost to my wedding weight!  I should be screaming and jumping for joy at my accomplishment!  However, it’s been said time and time again not to look at the scale.  The scale does not measure how you look and feel.  My body has been through a year, oh it has.  I’ve been stretched out and starved for time and I’m completely out of shape.  Breastfeeding and walking have gotten the weight off, but my body looks completely different than I am used to.  My belly is much squishier, and that jiggle jiggle is anything but attractive.  I have been patient with getting back to my normal self.  No crazy diets or workouts here.  Just steady walking, breastfeeding, and trying to eat healthy when I can.  What I really need is time to tone.  Or maybe I just need to make it a priority.  It’s tough, this mom thing.  By the time I get home from work, it’s time for Nico’s bath and bedtime routine.  After that, it’s cooking, dinner, clean-up, and I maaaaybe have an hour or so to get anything done, yet I am exhausted.  The last thing I want to do is a work out at 10pm that would keep me up even later with all the adrenaline.  I do hope and plan to get back on some kind of fitness routine in the near future, but in the meantime…it’s bathing suit season people, and what is a beach-loving mommy to do?
Well…I have decided to embrace and love the body I currently have and find a suit that flatters it as much as I can.  Work with what ya got, right?  Besides, my body got this way because of the incredible tiny human who now fills my life with so much joy.  There is something to be said for that.  We moms make sacrifices for our children every day, and if a little extra belly fat is what it takes to be blessed with such an amazing little boy, then so be it.  Luckily, vintage/mod/retro style suits are all the rage right now, and I am planning on rocking an adorable high waisted swimsuit or one-piece this summer.  Who says you can’t look hot in a onesie!?  The most important thing is that I am comfortable, so I am going to go with what works for me right now.
Would love to hear from any new mamas on what you plan on donning to the beach this summer?  OR if you have any great fitness routines that you swear by, I would love to hear from you as well!
Hope you have a happy one!

Gina

Rainy Day Essentials

As I sit and listen to the rain fall against my windowpane, it only seemed appropriate to put together a collection of rainy day essentials.  While the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers, I’m willing to bet we will still get a fair amount of rain this spring.  These pieces help to embrace the stormy weather while we wait for brighter days.
Rainy Day Essentials
1.  Wide Brim Hat: ASOS – To cover your head on those days when it’s sprinkling or when it’s too windy for your umbrella.
2.  Umbrella Studs: Etsy – Embrace the rainy day with these adorable studs.
3.  Panda Umbrella: ModCloth – I mean, is this not the cutest umbrella you have ever seen?!  I need this.
4.  Waterproof Mascara: Tarte – Because running mascara is not a good look.
4.  Rainboots: Hunter – Rainboots are a must in the city, and these bright pink ones boost my mood on a rainy day.
5.  Hairspray : Dove – For those frizzy fly-aways, because we all know rain equals a bad hair day.
6.  Teapot: Occa Home – The most adorable vintage teapot, because there is nothing like a cup of hot tea while you watch the rain fall.
7.  Rain Earrings: Etsy – Remember when we were kids and we used to splash through the puddles and get excited about the rain? These earrings bring me back to that place.
 8.  Raincoat: ModCloth – Who says you can’t look cute in the rain?  The polka dot raincoat is fabulous!
Happy Rainy Thursday!

Gina

Fall has finally arrived in NYC.  The leaves are multi-colored, the air is crisp, and it’s time to start layering.  I’m looking forward to (and already enjoying) everything autumn including apple cider, pumpkin carving, football, pumpkin spice lattes, and hiking outdoors.
Now that I’m no longer shopping in the maternity section, this season’s fashion excites me even more than usual.  Some of the current trends I am digging are the color burgundy (or bordeaux according to my sorority sisters), the tuxedo pant, winter white (no white after Labor Day is so outdated!), over-the knee boots, and more.
What trends are you into this fall?

The 4th of July is right around the corner, and I decided to put together this little red, white, and blue inspiration board to put me in the mood!  We are getting extremely excited for our upcoming mini-vacation to the cutest lake-side cottage in Maine.  But first, we have a wedding to celebrate on Maryland’s Eastern Shore!  We are headed down there tonight to celebrate our friends Kurt and Tiffany tomorrow, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Happy Friday, and hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

5 Beauty Must Haves

5 Beauty Must Haves
1.  MAC Paint Pot in Painterly – This is a cream eyeshadow, but I use it an an eyeshadow primer.  Before using this, my eyeshadow would wear off before the end of the day.  Now, I have literally fallen asleep, and my eyeshadow has still been wearin’ strong!  My makeup routine is no longer complete without this product!  And the little pot actually lasts quite awhile.
2.  Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula – I have been slathering this on daily to avoid stretch marks from my Little Monkey.  So far, so good!
3.  Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara – I was an avid Lancome Difinicils user for years.  I recently started using Hypnose Drama instead, and I LOVE the difference in my eyelashes!  While it still makes them longer, it also makes them fuller and more voluminous.  I think I will be sticking to this mascara for awhile.
4.  Olay Age Defying Moisturizer – I use this all year long, and have been very happy with it.  As for the anti-wrinkle, you can never start too young in my opinion!  It also has an SPF of 15, which is great for the summertime.
5.  Loreal Extra Intense Eyeliner – I always have trouble with eyeliner wearing off on the underside of my lower eyelid and smudging underneath  (I know, I know, you’re aren’t supposed to put it there, but I have to).  So far, this eyeliner does it the least, so I’ve been using it a lot lately.
What are your beauty must haves?
Tonight, I’m headed to the AICP Show at the MOMA, and very much looking forward to it!  Have a great Thursday everyone.
XO,
Gina

Noteworthy Neon

Noteworthy Neon
1.  River Island Fluro Flower Studs – ASOS / 2.  Colorblock Pillow – Etsy / 3.  Adidas Santiago Watch – Nordstrom / 4.  Rookie Perf Laceless Shoes – Keds / 5. Glow in the Dark Sunglasses – Urban Outfitters / 6.  Kate Spade Patent Pumps – Bergdorf Goodman / 7.  Oversized Boston Bag – Forever 21 / 8.  Marc Jacobs Orange Leather Bracelet – My Wardrobe / 9.  Gorjana Pink Wrap Bracelet – Neiman Marcus / 10.  Mac Candy Yum-Yum – Nordstrom / 11.  Neon Nail Polish – American Apparel / 12.  Glam Punk Spike Necklace – Boticca / 13.  Neon Trim Straw Fedrora – Old Navy / 14.  BCBGeneration Envelope Clutch – Zappos / 15.  Marc Jacobs Blue Dial Watch – Saks / 16.  Bobbi Brown Blue Bell Eyeshadow – Bergdorf Goodman / 17.  Brian Atwood Snake Embossed Pumps – Neiman Marcus / 18.  Cambridge Satchel – Modcloth / 19. Blue Sky Havaianas – Surf Sitch
There’s nothing I love more than a pop of neon to accessorize an outfit.  This spring and summer, neon is all the rage, and these are some of my favorite finds.  The weather has been up and down these past few weeks, and I am looking forward to the days when there will be some steady warmth around here.  These bright colors make me happy and can definitely spice up a neutral look.
I had this post prepared for Friday, but in light of the manhunt in Boston, and us having to travel up there for a wedding that day, I thought it was not appropriate.  It was an insane morning, but we made it to the suburbs of Boston safely.  The wedding ceremony had to be moved because of the lockdown, but the show went on!  My dear friend Jamie got married to his bride Kaitlyn, and it was a beautiful wedding.  Jamie and I have known each other since freshman year of high school, and he was my first guy friend at ASHS.  We’ve been through a lot over the years, and it was awesome to be there to celebrate his big day!  With the craziness going on in Boston, this wedding showed there was still some love in the air.  Stay tuned later in the week for some photos from this event!
Since officials were able to catch the second Boston Marathon bomber, we also got the chance to visit with my college roomie, Danielle, (otherwise known at Stewey…don’t ask) along with her husband and baby.  We had a great time walking around the city with them, going out to eat, and seeing first hand what it’s going to be like for us when our Lil’ Monkey gets here.
Unfortunately, I think I caught a cold over the weekend.  I am home with a nasty little bug today.  I hope you all have a good week ahead.
XO,
Gina
